Description

On June 1, 2015, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), along with all states, was required to submit to the United States Education Department (USED) a plan to ensure that poor and minority children are not taught at higher rates than other children by inexperienced, unqualified, or out-of-field teachers. As part of this plan, districts and schools are charged with the task of analyzing their own data related to equitable access issues, the root causes and develop its own solutions.

In order to support districts and schools with this endeavor, KDE will be hosting regional work sessions to begin the process of developing equitable access plans which will become a part of the Comprehensive District and School Improvement plans (CDIPs and CSIPs) in December of 2015.

Each district is encouraged to send a team of five to this working session. The team should be comprised of one teacher leader, one principal, the district PGES contact and up to two other participants of the district’s choosing.
